Swim Team Tote + Giveaway

Hello blog hoppers! I'm super excited to be a part of the Windham Fabrics blog hop celebrating designer Dinira Mirtalipova's new fabric line called Swim Team. How fun are these prints?!? I love the hand-drawn sketchy feel to many of them and there's even fun little fish hidden in a few of the prints. I have a new quilt pattern coming out next week that uses this collection that I'll share soon but how about a tote to tide you over until then? (Oh, and don't forget to check the bottom for all the details on how to enter to win 1 of 2 Fat Quarter bundles I'll be giving away!!) Introducing: Kate Tote

Introducing: Kate Tote

Remember back in the fall when Melissa from Iza Pearl Design collaborated on a sister tote to the ever popular Laura Tote? Well, the Kate tote is now available and has been shipping to quilt shops across the country! (Want to check if your local quilt shop is carrying it? Here's a list of all retailers carrying a selection of my patterns: Shop Listings. If they aren't carrying it, be sure to let them know you'd love to see my patterns locally!) Isn't she great?!? One of my favorite things about this pattern is that the bag shape works great on it's own if you don't feel like you want to tackle the applique. Look how amazing it … [Read more...]

Vroom! Scooter Applique

Vroom! Scooter Applique

Last week I made the cutest applique pouch for a friend... and got so excited to send it to her I didn't take a finished picture. Sad. But I do have this picture of it in progress! I though I'd share the applique design I sketched up if anyone wanted to use it. It's the perfect size for a zippered pouch, onesie, place mats, napkins, or wallet! In the download I have all the individual pieces (already reversed for tracing onto the back of your Heat'n Bond!), and a little placement diagram so you can see how all the pieces layer and fit together. You can download the PDF of the Scooter here! Happy Sewing! … [Read more...]

Sewing Machine Apron Reveal

I've got a new pattern out! Yay! This pattern first came about when I needed a handmade gift for an exchange at CityCraft for our Christmas party a couple of years ago. Since the first one, I've made a few more, used it for a bit, and made a few adjustments to make it the ultimate tool storage apron! Now it's 100% ready for you! As usual you can purchase either the printed copy or a PDF that will be emailed to you directly following your purchase. Find the patterns here. The front has 8 pockets in varying sizes for holding all your most used tools. The thread bin has a tiny pocket, just the right size for your thread snipper! It … [Read more...]

Zoe Bag Alternate Front

Zoe Bag Alternate Front

This is one of my favorite bag patterns! I love the size and the ability to make so many different fronts to the bag! This is one I made a little while ago to welcome summer. Here's how to make this bag flap. (If you don't already have the pattern you can purchase the print or PDF version in the shop!)  (I'll show you how to make just one block, but the cutting and directions are for 12 blocks for the front.) Cut your Pieces: Cut (12) 4 3/4" squares of your background fabric (I used a white cotton.) Cut (12) 4 3/4" squares of the accent fabrics (Use the same, or mix it up for a scrappy, yet coordinated look) Cut each of your … [Read more...]

Metallic Echino Clutch

June 24, 2013

Metallic Echino Clutch

I've been having lots of fun with some Echino Metallic fabric that Callie from CityCraft sent me to play around with. She carries it in 3 great colorways and I had such a hard time deciding what to make with them! The one on the top with the royal blue, black, and pink is destined for a project that is in the works but I used the middle one to make a Garden Party Clutch! I love how, because this is a nice heavy home decor weight fabric, I was able to forgo most of the interfacing in this pattern. I added a little medium weight to the top band and lining and didn't need anything heavier for the exterior. It's hard to tell in the photos … [Read more...]

Introducing: Garden Party Clutch

Introducing: Garden Party Clutch

I posted this fun clutch on Instagram a couple of weeks ago. My testers are done testing it and the PDF pattern is ready for purchase! The hard copy of the pattern will be ready for shipping by the end of the week too! I love this clutch because it hardly takes any fabric and it's got some fun options, all of which are included in the pattern! You can use scrappy strips (the same size as jelly roll strips if you have a few extra hanging around!), or one fat quarter to make this super snazzy clutch. This one was made with some Liberty of London and some gold metallic linen, both from CityCraft. It's hard to tell that the top part is … [Read more...]

Spring Pinwheel Potholders and Giveaway

When Anna from the Etsy store Ciao Bella Solids asked me to participate in her blog hop and blogger bundle giveaway I jumped right on it! They are all Moda Bella Solids and they are $5.49 per yard! (That's a steal!!!) If you need more than 5 yards, check with Anna because she'll make you a custom listing for just $5 per yard!) Mini Quote Quilt

Mini Quote Quilt

Remember the Baby Shower Invites? The baby shower came and went already! I was in charge of decorations and invitations while my good friend Karen was in charge of all the food and games. It went really well!! My goal for the decorations was to use things that were reusable so that the mom-to-be could use them in the baby's room as decorations when we were done using them at the party. She wasn't really picky, which was nice. The only direction I got was to use Pink and Gray! I had her send me a few quotes and made one of them into a little quilted canvas to hang in the room. It was my first time truly free motion quilting. Overall, it went … [Read more...]
