Whew! It was a super busy week last week! I had an all day Travel themed sewing camp that I taught. These girls and I were together from 9AM-4PM everyday last week at CityCraft! I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls!! We had so much fun learning the basics, then moving into our projects for the week. Our first project was a scrappy travel tote. (Their finished ones are in the photo above.) Boy did they love digging through the scrap box and sorting the fabrics! We learned about using a rotary cutter safely, cutting pieces to specific dimensions without the use of a pattern, and a bit about applique. Next up we talked about … [Read more...]

Zoe Bag Alternate Front
This is one of my favorite bag patterns! I love the size and the ability to make so many different fronts to the bag! This is one I made a little while ago to welcome summer. Here's how to make this bag flap. (If you don't already have the pattern you can purchase the print or PDF version in the shop!) (I'll show you how to make just one block, but the cutting and directions are for 12 blocks for the front.) Cut your Pieces: Cut (12) 4 3/4" squares of your background fabric (I used a white cotton.) Cut (12) 4 3/4" squares of the accent fabrics (Use the same, or mix it up for a scrappy, yet coordinated look) Cut each of your … [Read more...]

Metallic Echino Clutch
I've been having lots of fun with some Echino Metallic fabric that Callie from CityCraft sent me to play around with. She carries it in 3 great colorways and I had such a hard time deciding what to make with them! The one on the top with the royal blue, black, and pink is destined for a project that is in the works but I used the middle one to make a Garden Party Clutch! I love how, because this is a nice heavy home decor weight fabric, I was able to forgo most of the interfacing in this pattern. I added a little medium weight to the top band and lining and didn't need anything heavier for the exterior. It's hard to tell in the photos … [Read more...]
The Secret To Movie Theater Popcorn
One of my all time favorite snack foods is popcorn! I'd eat it every day if I could! For the longest time I figured that to get the taste of movie theater popcorn at home I'd have to purchase an expensive popcorn machine. (Because, let's face it, the microwave "movie theater butter" flavor of popcorn just doesn't cut it! NEVER good the next day, not to mention that it's filled with all kinds of chemicals and if you don't eat it piping hot there's some kind of filmy texture to it!) Oh, and did I mention that popcorn is expensive at the movie theater! Imagine my surprise when I figured out exactly how easy it is to make it at home … [Read more...]

Introducing: Garden Party Clutch
I posted this fun clutch on Instagram a couple of weeks ago. My testers are done testing it and the PDF pattern is ready for purchase! The hard copy of the pattern will be ready for shipping by the end of the week too! I love this clutch because it hardly takes any fabric and it's got some fun options, all of which are included in the pattern! You can use scrappy strips (the same size as jelly roll strips if you have a few extra hanging around!), or one fat quarter to make this super snazzy clutch. This one was made with some Liberty of London and some gold metallic linen, both from CityCraft. It's hard to tell that the top part is … [Read more...]
Spring Pinwheel Potholders and Giveaway
When Anna from the Etsy store Ciao Bella Solids asked me to participate in her blog hop and blogger bundle giveaway I jumped right on it! I absolutely love working with solid colors and she let me put together a super fun and springy palette! (Pst... check out her great solids! They are all Moda Bella Solids and they are $5.49 per yard! (That's a steal!!!) If you need more than 5 yards, check with Anna because she'll make you a custom listing for just $5 per yard!) After looking at the color card I chose the following colors: From top to bottom: Horizon Blue, Sunshine, Aubergine, Raspberry, and Chartreuse (To enter to win a Fat … [Read more...]
Mini Quote Quilt
Remember the Baby Shower Invites? The baby shower came and went already! I was in charge of decorations and invitations while my good friend Karen was in charge of all the food and games. It went really well!! My goal for the decorations was to use things that were reusable so that the mom-to-be could use them in the baby's room as decorations when we were done using them at the party. She wasn't really picky, which was nice. The only direction I got was to use Pink and Gray! I had her send me a few quotes and made one of them into a little quilted canvas to hang in the room. It was my first time truly free motion quilting. Overall, it went … [Read more...]
