I had some requests to make a tutorial for the Silhouette Cameo dust cover I made around Christmastime. They are really quite simple! Here's what you'll need to make your own: 1 Fat Quarter for the main piece 1 Fat Quarter (or a little less) for the two side pieces Side Piece Pattern (Download here) Trim down your main piece to 22" W x 15" H. Fold your fabric for your two side pieces right sides together. Using the pattern piece, cut through both layers to get the two side pieces. Pin one side piece to the 15" side of the main piece. I'm not a huge pinner, but for this step, the more pins the better! Sew, using a … [Read more...]
Quilty Sewing Projects
I've been busy sewing up a storm lately! Here are a few of the projects I've been working on, both large and small! The guild block of the month was to make an equilateral triangle. I loved this process! I didn't win the drawing, but had fun with a new technique! For this block, and the one below, we were given a small amount of the Madrona Road line and asked to make an improv block. I realized, after cutting and slashing, sewing, and cutting some more, that I wasn't really an improv person. I like to plan things out a little better so it was actually quite stressful for me! I got frustrated with my "improv block" scrapped … [Read more...]
Double Chocolate Cookies
I tried this new recipe last week, and I have to say it's now one of my favorite cookie recipes EVER! Think delicious, moist, dark chocolate brownie bites, with melty semi-sweet chocolate chips! Seriously SO good! These would make the perfect little V-Day treat for a chocolate lover!! (The one thing I did change is the size of the cookies! The original recipe calls for each cookie to use 4 oz. of dough to make a dozen super large cookies. Using my regular cookie scoop I got a better cookie size and it made 4 dozen! Just reduce the baking time!) … [Read more...]
Christmas Gifts Revealed
Christmas is a hard time to be a crafter! I wanted for weeks to show you some of the projects I was working on, but had to wait until the recipient of the gifts got them. Don't want to ruin a surprise! (Add in both my husband and I having birthdays, New Year's Eve, a short road trip to Dallas, and other activities and it makes for a super busy season! I'm sure you can relate, though!) I don't necessarily have tutorials planned for any of these, but if there's enough interest I could probably put something together, just let me know! I used a Patty Young container file from the Silhouette store to make these little boxes. They were … [Read more...]
French Macaron Applique
Our quilt guild had a mug rug swap gift exchange at our Christmas Party this year. I went back and forth for weeks about what I wanted my mug rug to look like. I FINALLY settled on the idea that I wanted to incorporate french macarons in the project some how, as well as a fun quote. I was looking through my Quote board on Pinterest and reflected back to my very first pin: (This fun little print from Gayana on Etsy.) I thought that if I swapped out the Ice Cream for Macarons (Edited: I've had a few emails about macaron being spelled wrong. I used the french spelling: French Macaron) I'd be a happy camper, and hopefully the … [Read more...]

The lip gloss containers were purchased from Swans Supplies on Etsy. These are so easy to make it's unbelievable! I used this tutorial. You'll need two ingredients that are easy to find! Vaseline and Crystal Light drink mix! Mix together and put in your lip gloss containers. That's it! Peppermint Foot Scrub Next up is some simple … [Read more...]
Scrappy Fabric Christmas Wreath
I wanted to share a project I've had hanging on my front door since last week. I was inspired by my friend Sara to make a cute Christmas version after seeing her scrappy one! Here's what you'll need to make your own: (1) 12" wire wreath frame (Usually less than $3!) 2 yards of fabric total, cut into 1" x 6" strips (I used a pinking rotary blade and it made things go much faster!) I used about 1/3 yard of 6 different fabrics to make mine. Once you've cut your fabric, have a seat, pop in a movie or favorite TV show, and start tying! Here's a few tips to help: -Don't worry about tying them super tight -Don't worry about … [Read more...]
Londoner Clutch
Here's a little project I can finally share! It took nearly a month to reach my sister in Germany and I wanted to wait until she got it before I spoiled the surprise! My sister LOVES London, and when I found this fabric I knew that I had to use it to make something for her. I used my Floral Clutch Pattern and just added the little corner pieces from some red upholstery vinyl scraps I had. Super easy modification! I'm really pleased with how it turned out but my favorite part is probably this little charm that I found to use as a zipper pull: … [Read more...]
DIY Shower Curtain and Blind Hems
Today I'm going to help you learn how to use a Blind Hem Stitch while we make a shower curtain! It's actually pretty easy! Our second bathroom has been a little sad since we moved. It's had nothing done to it and is not up to my colorful standard! Definitely time for a makeover. I knew that I wanted to work off of these coral vases I already had, and I wanted a travel/world theme. After searching for months I found the perfect fabric to make the shower curtain with! This wonderful Alexander Henry print, Zhivago, from Fabric Worm. Isn't it delicious? Teal, Yellow, Red, Coral, and Aqua gorgeousness! Let's get started! … [Read more...]
