The Oklahoma Modern Quilt Guild is putting together a fun pincushion swap for QuiltCon. I just finished my pincusion for the swap. It was the perfect chance to use some of the mini charm packs I picked up at Quilt Market in the fall. I chose to use the Architextures line by Robert Kaufman. I love this line that Carolyn Friedlander designed! It really strikes a chord with this interior designer! I used some teeny green strips to make the grass (1/4" when finished), then pieced the little houses on some charcoal linen. The back was pieced with scraps and squares from the mini charm pack. I LOVE how it turned out! … [Read more...]
Laura Tote = Complete
I'm super excited to present to you the finished Laura Tote Pattern! This chic & glamorous tote is just waiting to be packed and taken to exotic locations, a picnic, or around town. Tutorial Tuesday: Drop Earrings
Mom, if you're reading now, please delete the email and wait until AFTER Mother's Day to visit my site. Thanks! Just to make sure she doesn't see the picture of what may be her Mother's Day gift I included this filler picture of my cat trying to help with the project. What you can't see is that he's sitting directly on top of what I'm trying to photograph! I can't tell you how many pictures never make it into the tutorial because it's got a cat nose, paw, tail, or ear in it somewhere! So for Mother's Day I wanted something simple but useful to send to both my Mother and Mother-In-Law and I think I succeeded! I made them each a pair of … [Read more...]
Tutorial Tuesday: Stamped Earrings
I sketched out this idea I wanted to try a few weeks ago and pulled out the supplies to make it. I thought it would be fun to do a stamped pattern on shrinky dinks to make some fun earrings then add some embellishments for a little more texture! I think they turned out well! A great colorful accessory for the coming summer! This project actually has two separate parts to it. First off we're going to make a shrinky dink ruler. Trust me, this will make ALL your shrinky dink projects easier from here on out! This is how you're going to know for sure how much your plastic will shrink! It always says 1/3 ...but who wants to do the … [Read more...]
Tutorial Tuesday – Handmade Memory Game
This is a really simple project also and GREAT for a handmade Christmas gift! You can very easily adapt it for different age levels as well. This one is a fairly simple match the pattern game. For a little more difficult version, try printing out upper and lowercase letters, or pictures and the matching words. Or even match the english word with the spanish or french word. (Told you it's easily adaptable!) Here's what you'll need: A few packages of these: -Wooden squares. I used two packages for the one I made. Originally I had wanted the squares to be larger than 1 1/4" square and was going to order some from here. At the last … [Read more...]
